Council Scoots into Action |

Mackay Council Purchases ScootersBusinesses looking to cut their fleet vehicle expenditure should look no further than scooters. That's the official word from the Mackay Regional Council in far north Queensland.

The council has recently invested in four Piaggio scooters; three Beverlys and one X9500 maxi, for duties across a number of areas. According to council fleet coordinator Graham Sutton, the scooters have not only reduced their day-to-day running costs, but offer more convenience over the council's car fleet. "The Beverly appealed from the start because of the 16-inch wheels and it's been great going up and down footpaths and in situations where we generally require a lot of stability," said Graham. "And the appeal of the X9 is all the underseat storage, as well as the power from the big maxi. From an economic viewpoint, scooters just make so much sense, and we are delighted with our purchases." |
